A MYHARA RIKBAKTSA HEADDRESS
An impressive Myhara Rikbaktsa Amazon indigenous neck covering feather and hair headdress.
First half 20th century. 92 x 52 x 49 cm.
This woven cotton crown is covered in its outer part with red plumes of the Ara Chloroptera, black of Hokko bird or Great curassow, blue af the Ara Ararauna.
On each side are strands of black hair. The part covering the neck is composed of cotton braids on which are fixed plumes of the same species, the lower part ending in long red and blue rectrices.
Collected in the 1950s in Brazil, Mato Grosso, Rio Juruena and Rio Sangue.
